When I was in the USA early last year as part of the Leadership 21 study tour, I took some extra time after the official part of the trip had concluded to visit friends in communities that were not on the itinerary. I went to Seattle where I stayed with Doug and Kathy Dornhecker (visiting lecturers at CCTC in 2001). Doug and Kathy took me to a church they had been actively supporting for some time. It was a Disciples of Christ Church, which had the words ‘open and affirming’ attached to it’s identity.
