Today I visited Korea, Sudan, China, Taiwan and Lebanon, all during my lunch break. During this time, I was able to listen to many different languages around me, sample a variety of interesting foods and mingle with the people from those countries. How did I do this? I attended a break-up lunch with the students in my English class.
For the last eleven weeks we have been struggling along together, me trying to teach my sometimes-odd language, and them trying to put it all together to make some kind of sense! Why do ‘gym’ and ‘Jim’ sound the same anyway? And how can we hold a glass and hold a party at the same time? No wonder English is a tricky language to learn.
